    Hello,
1 link is not enough but it is good, you can create 2 or 3 link in each forum in different section of the forum. but try to avoid signature spamming.

    Thanks

your site needs unlimited links. one link on different pages of any forum/site is more important for site promotion

If you visit a topically related forum and contribute regularly, that basically tells the search engines that you are an authority on that topic and actively contributing to the community. Going from one forum to another making a single dumb post is just spam and most will be deleted after you have left anyway.

All these people are talking about "spamming" - WTF do we want to join a forum we care nothing about for ? I have like 40 niches.. I dont care about any of them personally.. And what Real Webmaster has the time to be in a forum actually discussing things?

Besides here at DP of course.. But this is work related - Just cause I have a site about sewing doesnt mean I will be in a sewing forum talking it up looking to become a moderator.

Spamming is not building a few links and then jamming out and never returning. At least you arent using Xrummer. And besides - so many forums are not even populated these days - People actually pay people to post.

It depends on what you are targeting.
If you have multiple markets then no.
Although you really what to be relevant to your niche in that forum.
Now like lets say golf tips, then in same golf forum you put golf club reviews, or golf course information as Examples these are the same market and all relevant to golf. So yes multiple links would be good.
But putting golf links in a women's fashion forum would not be good, not that women do not golf, but it really in not relevant.
Fish were the fish are and use multiple methods to catch them!

Before back linking , it is relevancy that matters most to search engines.

Case - You make just one post and disconnect from forum..
What happens - Search Engines crawl forums and find your link and title of the forum thread+contents nature that was started and based on that you are given ranking on that niche.

Multiple postings in various threads improves chances in variety of keywords based on forum threads and content but within same niche.

It is possible that search engines detect forum activeness of a member based on threads and your links combination. Also just writing thank you ! and good post ! will no more count better for link building.

One link is a forum is never enough. I agree with what stephenc said.forums should be used to sharing knowledge and definitely not for spamming with the signature links.
