Is Google Pagerank Worthless?

I am doing research on what people think about Google PageRank and it's true value and have a question for you all....

What do you think about Google Pagerank is it valuable or worthless?

Yes and no. Google uses PR as part of their ranking algo, however the PR we see is out of date. So chasing links from a Pr3 site might be worthless as the site's PR is due to be dropped.

However, with a bit of common sense it is quite easy to tell the difference between a good and bad site.

 

PR is still very important and i am observing that google is still giving importance pr for ranking.

but some people think you can sell something based on PR...???

 

I think PR is very important. Not the only important factor but one of the important factors. It shows us the importance of page on the web.

 

I am bit new to this PR thing. I have a PR 2 blog and this hasn't helped me in getting traffic or position in SERP. i guess only PR4+ sites will get some benefit from this.

 

As long as Google continues devoting time, money, and algorithm-designing engineers to PR, I will continue to believe that PR is important to them. How important PR is to us webmasters is an item of ongoing, unresolved debate on this and other forums. It is not in Google's best interests to give us too much info on the inner workings of PR.

 

google implement it itself. so i guess if pr is worthless then they should have atleast take it out.

 

Atleast for SEO guys it has much importance

 

PR is good indicator of the quality of links you're getting to a certain page.

 

I think it depends on what type of site you are shooting for.

If you are focusing on PPC, Facebook, Twitter...ect style traffic then maybe you aren't shooting for high SERPS and therefore PR really doesn't matter as much.

If you have a content driven site...PR might matter to you a little more if you want a good amount of search traffic.

However...I see lots of newer affiliates just focus on their PR...and not really if that's what the user want and/or what's going to make you $$. Low PR, heavy affiliate linked sites can make as much as a high PR, highly searched site if you know how to bring the traffic in.

I think PR is very important factor. Sites are still taken in consideration depending on their PR. Consider that I trade a PR10 site to PR5 site just for PR5 is more attractive, updated or else.. No one would dismiss PR option

Keywords are important yes, but I think on-site optimization is one of the most important factors, especially in your HTML and filenames, as well as making sure that your site is optimized for your keyword.

 

PR is useless for people who seriously look to build sites... for people. They serve no purpose in getting us a traffic and is just a barometer designed by google for their own good!
