Facebook is clearly a major marketing platform and seems to be growing its “search” volume. Google also just formally listed Facebook.

Day to day growing of uses Facebook I think it gives better then.

No. Google has far more advertising potential, particularly with Adsense.

 

I saw an interesting article about this the other day (Here) It'd seem that while Facebook maybe getting more searches they're not all external, which is key to surpassing Google. I personally don't think Facebook is going to become more important that Google.

 

It might get more traffic then Google, but it's definitely not as important.

 

I agree facebook is getting alot of hits but won't be more important then google.

 

Face Book is just an blooming networking site. Google has search engine,web mail service,Feed Burner,Ad-words, Ad-Sense,orkut,youtube. if anywebsite is growing and making a lot of money google will buy it. they rule the internet world. i think in the next the next few years we may start calling internet as Google.

 

Facebook is number 2 now and maybe in the near future it'll be no.1

I still think that google is far beyond facebook because of its features.

If you talking about the traffic referrals, Facebook is no way near Google.
But, if you are comparing as a social networking site with Orkut, Facebook wins it.

 

I do not like Facebook that much. It's alright, but mostly people posting an unlimited amount of useless info. It's alright for those that like to ramble on and gossip I guess. The younger crowd likes it. I just don't find it very helpful or useful for what I do. If you just want to be bombarded with requests for surveys, trivia, and join groups then I guess it's great. I generally seek more than what Facebook can provide. For that I turn to Google, sometimes Yahoo and MSN/Bing. But Facebook and Google are a bit different. Facebook just drives me nuts it's almost always the same thing over and over day after day. I find it not that useful and a bit of a time waster, but that's just my opinion.

 

Facebook is Social Networking website and Google is bunch of many many website platform which provide wast features as compare to facebook. only. No doubt facebook is growing fast but both the website have equal balance between. I think Google and Facebook have some thing to hit market more effectively.

 

Social networks come and go. They have a shelf life of 3-5 years after their peak. Even Facebook will be uncool in the not so distant future.

Social networking sites are booming and many people are using facebook. But I don't think it is becoming more important than google.

 

Facebook can be replaced easily. They are just popular, nothing fancy.
But Google does have a set of sophisticated search algorithm that no one can beat.

Google will remain Google, Absolute product varieties and user integrated approach of Google will not let Facebook to cross it's user demands, so Google will remain least bothered about Facebook..
