I'm a musician and want to promote myself

Hey guys.
This is my first post on this forum, i heard you are very helpful

Okay. My name is Chris, i am 18 years old and i am a german rapper.
My aim is to become well known in the rap scene without making money firstly. I just want to become well known and want to attract many people! I want them to listen to my music, i want to give them the feeling that i have lived just like them, that i know the situation where they are in at the moment for example.

So, my question to you guys is, how can i accomplish that?
I have 3 videos on youtube, the best has 1600 views.
If you want to check my professionality i can give you the links too.

I don't battlerap, this means i try to create Songs with an intention! Thats the main aim of myself. =)

How would you guys get it started?
I already have created a own website. I can give you the link too if you want.

i would use myspace. also join facebook groups. even find some hip hop sites that want to feature you.

self promotion is hard you just got to keep at it everyday and work hard

 

I already got myspace. Has ~ 13600 visits. But I think myspace aint a good promotion, because most people there are musicians themselves! At least in germany, nearly nobody is regular on myspace.
Some hip hop site that want to feature me? Hmm. How you think they could feature me? Advertisements at their page? Hm ye this could be an opportunity, but you know .. There are many many many musicians out there. This is the toughest thing in the music industry .. there are so many. The most important thing is the promotion - in fact. How else could some children-songs be in the charts?
Don't know if you know it, but for example "Schnappi" was very popular in germany. Although its total bullshit.

You can make some videos and put just a part of a song and ask the listeners to visit your site for the full song. Upload them to video sharing sites. Youtube, metacafe, etc.
And buy your cd”s too.

 

keep making good music, use social media tools myspace/facebook/twitter and keep in touch with your fans..

exposure, exposure, exposure.. that is about it ... have your music played at whatever chance you get...

give away free CDs..played at clubs..

looks like you are playing solo.. you need a manager to handle the business side

Create a group and a fan-page at Facebook. MySpace and social places like that is good as well.

 

You need to join www.soundclick.com! I have a music page on there - it is a really great site for getting your sounds out there.

 

Twitter
Facebook and a fanpage
Constantly update the above two.
Drop a link to you website whereever possible.
Make sure that you have user reviews and videos to your music albums.
Get in touch with music niche blog and do a guest post in that.
