Hi all, I know some basic difference between dofollow and nofollow links. I have heard that nofollow links will not juice the PR to your site, but will nofollow links be considered as a back link in Google's point of view. I have some forum posts in PR pages with my anchor as signature. But they are nofollow links and I confirmed the same using the firefox plugin. Will this anchor be counted as a back link to my site? Also pls share some of the advantages of having a nofollow back link. Cheers
Yeah no follow link consider as backlink but In most cases Google does not "follow" the link at all, thats why the attribute says "nofollow". If you really want to know in detail ,,, you should read here :Nofollow
normally the nofollow links are followed depending upon the search engine. However in all of the search engines they are not considered in their ranking algorithm. So IMHO a nofollow link is not considered to be a back link, at least for adding value to your site
A backlink is a link on another site that points back to your website. so nofollow link will still be considered as a backlink However Search Engines will not consider nofollow links in their ranking algorithm and ofcourse google will not consider them for PR
lots of difference in your opinions. Ok. Say if I have many nolollow back links. If I check in yahoo site explorer will they be shown there. Also curious to know some advantages of nofollow links if any. Cheers
yes right google will not follow this link and also he mention is link popularity not useful in website crawl
NO, no-follow links are not considered as backlinks and will not pass anything in SEO. But you can concentrate on them for getting traffic. But it will depend on the quality of post.
The no followed links are very useful from SEO perspectives because the matter of using the tag is blocking the Page Rank to follow and not completely making the links useless. This matter can also be noticed once you check out your Google Webmaster Tools panel to find the no followed links indexed there.
Yes, it will be there. Yahoo site explorer will show no follow backlinks also. Even it shows the backlink from twitter.
So you mean to say that I can see my nofollow links when I check in google web master or yahoo site explorer.?
Nofollow links DO help with SEO. I have got new static pages indexed quickly in the past by posting ads on classified websites with links in them. The links were all nofollow but Google followed the links -- and how! It might not COUNT the links, but it certainly FOLLOWS them. The target pages a) were indexed very quickly and b) performed well in the SERPs. The evidence is overwhelming. Additionally, consider this: would Google really pass on the opportunity to find new, interesting pages? Not a chance! The "nofollow" tag is nothing more than a disclaimer from the website's owner; "nofollow" links can and do point to valuable pages occasionally, and Google knows this.
Nope. The NoFollow attribute instructs the search engine spider to disregard the link. This means that the link will not pass any PageRank or Page Reputation. Essentially this links is worthless for affecting the ranking of a website. You can find out what Google says about it here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...4fCSBw&usg=AFQjCNHji59y69OmrnIfkMjupT8izru_VQ There are none, from a search engine perspective. However, if a human comes across the link they can still click on it since the link is still live and click-able.
No Follow links are not considered as back links. Google Crawler does not Follow them. So as far as back linking is concerned there is no use of "No Follow" links. However you can get traffic from these No Follow Links.
Considering the fact that many webmasters are switching to nofollow to prevent link value to pass away, its not always possible to get dofollow backlinks especially from high quality sites...thus its obvious to think that nofollow backlinks can not be totally worthless and numerous such links with right anchor text can still help you in srps. Heres a nice article about, how search engines handle nofollow
