Google will provide broadband service in US?

Discussion in 'Google' started by takecare4ever, Feb 10, 2010.

Google will now provide network services in US. Google will provide ultra high speed broadband service in the US. It plans to build network on fiber optic, offering a speed upto 1 Gbps, a speed which is 100 times more than most of the broadband service providers are providing right now in the US. The ultra high speed broadband service would initially be available for upto 0.5 million people.

WOW, they're getting their hands in everything. Could be a good thing for us all, because they're keep the cost down. The more high speed competition, the better. But..they will have to lease the current fiber optic infrastructure from whoever laid it, and that would be companies like Verizon.

Back in 2006 they were buying up as many long distance fibre connections as they could in the USA ( link to the news article) , so this is not unexpected.

I think this is great. If current ISPs are not going to experiment in order to improve their technology then I welcome any company, whether its Google or not, to make the advances.

its not really - Only half a million people will be able to get the broadband.

Along with that, who has a server cluster to take FULL advantage of the gbp line?
