Have you ever tried Google Analytics? you can install it on your website to check and if you want to check traffic for any other website you can check Alexa Rankings.

If it is for your own website than use Google Analytics. Or maybe your host already has awstats installed on the server and you can access it from the control panel.

If you want to get an estimate on someone else's site then try compete.com or quantcast.com

    I use two free ones:

    • Google Analytics
    • Statcounter (I used to use the paid level, with more results, until I realized that the free level gave me most of what I need.)

If you had cPanel hosting with Awstats you would have some good info on stats

Check out Statcounter I use them along with Google Analytics. If you use them together you can get all the information you need.

Google Analytics is free and very easy to set up and use. Offers a lot of information about your website visitors.

I assume, he is asking about checking the traffic stats of other sites, not his own sites
For third party sites, there are no tools which are 100% accurate, there are tools like keywordspy and many others, but most of them are paid

For your own site, google analytics w/o a doubt. Also, compete.com is a really easy estimator too. They are both free, and there are lots of other tools out there, but that is what I use.

Statcounter, hitstats, feedjit, etc... there are tons of site traffic tracker on the web but I greatly recommend google analytics.
