Targeted traffic is comprised of people who are interested in the theme of your website. For example, if your website is devoted to website designs targeted traffic will consist of website designs lovers, not people looking for information on how to manage affiliate programs.

Organic traffic just means the people are coming in without you really doing any work. They find your site through Search Engines like Bing or Google, or will find your link on a blog post or forum post like this and click it. That's Organic traffic, which is a way of getting people to visit your site. Targeted traffic is a way of describing the traffic, which means they are all interested in your product. You can have organic, targeted traffic - in fact that's the best kind IMO

Targeted traffic is just that. The traffic that you are targeting. For example, if you have a website about losing weight, your targeted traffic would be people out there that are searching for websites about weight loss.

What all of the peeps above have said... Targeted traffic just means bringing your the audience of people you want to target with you web site TO your web site. This can be done many ways.

You can get targeted traffic with:

    1) SEO by having your pages rank well for their targeted keyword phrases
    2) By Pay-Per-Click campaigns by bidding on keywords that you think your targeted audience
    3) By participating in blogs and forums related to your site where you think your targeted audience my be lurking...

    etc.

thanks friend. It is really helpful. But is it worth to use pay per click advertising just for bringing traffic? I think you are talking about adwords or other similar services right? (excuse me if I'm wrong). Is it worth?

Targeted traffic is something which your users are looking out for your website using the keywords which you target or closely to your keywords. So its always better to have targeted traffic with relevant keyword search.

Targeted traffic can go further than just people searching for your keywords. If you are selling widgets you want to get the people looking to buy widgets to your website. You could care less about the people that are just looking for information about widgets or doing price comparisons. While getting traffic from relative keywords is important you also want to target users with certain mind sets as well.

who are the people you target? If you are selling cars, then targetted traffic = people actually looking to buy cars. Non-targetted traffic would be people looking for a photo of a car for their Yahoo avatar, that came to your site cuz you have good photos. There is good traffic (targetted), then there is the riff raff

Organic traffic requires the use of techniques and tools to be properly used for better results. The first and the far most step to get a bunch of organic traffic is to have a large variety of unique content on your website which can result in the profit of reader and can be a great dinner for search engines

Targeted traffic refers to traffic interested in content/product available on site. Small targeted traffic can easily beat revenue earned from large non-targeted traffic :)

It's a particular demography of the people whom the website owner wants to visit his site.
e.g. if your site is about financial consulting then your targeted visitors would be from the age 20 to 50 and working people.
You can get the targeted traffic data from quantcast and alexa as well.
