PayPal halts ‘personal payments’ to, from India
Firm says it is trying to answer questions that have arisen about service

SAN JOSE, California - The online payments service PayPal has taken the unusual step of suspending many transactions in India for more than a week.

The announcement was made by PayPal spokesman, Anuj Nayar, on the company's blog.

"I'm writing to let you know that personal payments to and from India and transfers to local banks in India have been suspended while we work with our business partners and other stakeholders to address questions they have about the service," Nayar wrote on Saturday.

"During this time, customers can still make commercial payments to India but merchants cannot withdraw funds in Rupees to local Indian banks," he added.

Nayar said the suspensions began Jan. 28. He wrote that PayPal, which is owned by eBay Inc., hopes "to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."

This is not latest news..this has already been discussed yesterday at this forum..

 

This paypal worst processor reversed my 2 payments which i got on 1st feb.and again i requested sender to send it as commercial payment on 5th feb.again today they reversed both the payments.They are trying to dipp or scam indians.my bankwithdrawal is pending since 1week and they say its already completed.but i dint recieve any money and my account is in negative balance.


Any idea where we can complain about these doubtfull things to any higher authorities?

This news is also not new...They have just changed words and sentences for their blog..that is all..

However the merchant customers of Paypal can continue to use paypal payment services. The Paypal services for personal users have been banned in India since January 28, 2010. The news of paypal stopping services has been posted in their blog.

Not Correct!!! All types of accounts are affected...I have a premier account

We cant expect this in media unless we send some hefty money to some media guys via paypal as gift/services and it got reversed

 

No, Due to extreme non-sense getting posted here. Too many random stuff copy pasted from forums etc, fake info getting posted and same discussion getting rolled back to 0

Anyway, Their timings are from 6AM PST which is around 19:30 IST
