I'm also not a proponent of 7. I like Vista more! But I prefer XP above al OS's.
    Don't worry Win 8 is coming :D

Preinstalled. That's half your issue there. By default when preinstalled it will come with lots of bundled applications, in order to subsidize the cost of the Laptop to make it cheaper for you.

So basically, you can't find two things -- so the entire operating system sucks. UI changes happen, and you have to get used to them eventually. Besides, you could have just switched to classic mode but didn't even bother doing that.

I'm running an HTTP server, MySQL Server, FTP server, filezilla, netbeans, 24 tabs in firefox, pidgin, xampp manager, dropbox and a bunch of other things all within 1GB of memory quite fine.

HAHA this type of topic still makes me laugh. I'm running an X2 2ghz with only 2Gb RAM on my home system, and Windows 7 runs perfectly. No lags, no slowdowns, nothing wrong. Infact, I've done some gaming on it and that runs just as smooth as it ever did.

XP was 2001 folks, thats 9 years ago...either upgrade your hardware, or re-install a clean version of 7 without the gunk a manufacturer would throw on there...or downgrade back to XP and stop complaining about Vista/7 because the issue is not with the OS's.

    77 processes is too much.

Your laptop must have come with preinstalled junk software. Remove those applications
or format your PC and install Windows 7 yourself.

    You'll like it :p

I like windows 7, which is a lot to say since i am a mac freak :)

I guess i like it because its a combination of kubuntu (linux) and mac. it's not very original from microsoft, but that works for me.

Well if I make you laugh, I am sorry, I did not mean to.

I am get used to Windows XP, and it make me feel comfortable, but with Windows7, due to the big changes in UI, it takes me a long time to find something which I could find easily in XP, maybe I need time to get used to Windows7, but I really miss XP.

And when I bought the laptop, I asked for my OS CD, but they said I simply do not need it, they say if my OS collapse, I can restore it easily, this makes me really uncomfortable.

I did find some programs installed by Intel and IBM, or rather Lenovo, now I wish I could delete some of them. Anybody has any clue how I could optimize it?

Windows 7 is normally a pretty good OS compared to their previous and its a shame that you are having difficulties but Windows has always generally been bad which is why i use Linux. Its free and always works, never once had a problem hey :)
