I would expect the second to be a much more used keyword, but that means it will most likely be more competative. Do you want to rank quickly on an easy key word or rank well on a hard key word (which takes more backlinks, more pages, more work and better SEO)

This is providing you get the right domain name, otherwise its pointless having .com when its not the targeted keyword.

If I had a site on selling books and had mylibrarysale.com over

books.net / books.org

then that would be useless.

Better you keep a domain , which sounds more as a brand but not just like a micro sites for seo purpose. A good seo can ranks a domain even if you are not using the main keyword in domain (pages urls are always adjustable) so dont play much and try to create a brand. simple but attractive...

 

Having a domain as exact match of keyword helps a lot. So get the one depending on your keyword - be it buyFord Mustangs[dot]net or FordMustangsOnSale[dot]com

 

the best domain is an actual keyword someone would type into Google. Personally I dont like either of them because if I wanted a ford mustang, I wouldn't type into google a plural.

Who would ever type "buy ford mustangs?" Instead, I would type "buy ford mustang" or "ford mustang buy". Consumers rarely type in the plural version. The closer the domain is to the actual keyword, IMHO, the better it will rank for that exact keyword
