Link Juice From Same Domain Blog

If I have a domain say xyz.com and a blog as blog.xyz.com that has related postings to main domain. So, the anchor text that I use in blogs will also give me link juice? Will google count it as quality back link?

I was a bit confused if you can have link juice from your own blog with same domain name. Please do let me know what you think about it.

    Thanks.

I don't personally know how Google treats this situation, but I have the same set up myself. I tend to link to my main domain anyways, the copies of my article that spread around the net still count, even if my blog copy doesn't.

subdomain i think will be treated as another domain. so that link you put in your blog.xyz.com will also be good backlink.

I don't think it would count as backlinks because they are on the same IP address but it would still help your sites in increasing link popularity and also helpful for ranking purpose in some extents. :)

Internal links are counted as backlinks, pass PR, are used when evaluting link text of inbound links, etc... Internal links are VERY important. They may not influence ALL of the ranking factors that an external link can, but they still carry a lot of weight.

And in the situation you are talking about, subdomains are treated as separate sites... so links form blog.example.com to example.com are likely treated more like external links than internal links.

However, unless your main domain has tons of content, you'd likely benefit MUCH more by having your blog live in a subfolder of the main site (example.com/blog for example) than having it on a separate subdomain. When you make your blog a separate subdomain, it doesn't benefit from your main site's domain age, domain trust, domain authority... it is basically a brand new site starting from scratch trying to build up its own age, authority and trust.

AND having the blog as part of the main domain will help your main domain with its own domain authority. Sites with lots of links to lots of pages are seen as more authoritative than sites with lots of links primarily to the home page. Since blogs can add lots of pages to a site AND often attract links, having it on your main domain in a subfolder will likely help your main domain be seen as more of an authority over time.

Everything is based off of the root of a domain, therefore would be treated as an internal link. Very important to say the least, but not an external link.

Sub-domain is not a good backlink source for your web site. It is actually the same name, same IP address, same hosting.

It is better to create blog with address, like xyzblog.com and make few crosslinks between two sites. Don't abuse linking! It is enough to have 5-6 links on each address. I created 4 blogs with totally different content on each for my main site, and in 3 months I got pretty impressive results.

I would keep the blog at domain.com/blog instead of the subdomain that way you can be 100% sure it is being seen as standard internal linking.
