Windows 7 God Mode

This is something I wrote about a few days ago on another forum but noticed that there is nothing here on this one yet so I figured I would share it here too.

If you have windows 7 and are looking for a cool all-in-one location to manage your settings, users, drivers and more god mode is for you.

It's easy to setup, thanks to some fun loving programmers over at Microsoft.

Simply create a new folder, now rename it to "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and that's it!

Open the folder which should have a cool new icon now and you will be able to access all sorts of cool settings from one central location.

Of course do this at your own risk, I have seen no problems on my side though.

It messed up my system (64 bit) so be careful! A search on the internet for a solution helped!

I think you should probably edit your first post, saying people with vista 64 bit should NOT try this, because it has known issues. Confirmed that it works with win 7 ultimate 64 bit =)

Any more precautions, before I try it so that it could not damage the whole OS.

Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 7, is loaded with several innovative features which are mesmerizing users worldwide. Windows 7 enthusiasts have discovered yet another hidden feature of the operating system called “GodMode”. This tool allows users to access all of the operating system’s control panels from within a single folder. The only catch is that no new features of this mode have been revealed and only a list of tasks that can be completed within Control Panel has been exposed.

Planned for developers as a shortcut to a gamut of internal settings, features like GodMode have been there in Windows OS since Vista and even before. A senior person of Microsoft’s Windows division has said that this so called GodMode settings folder exposed by bloggers is just one of the undocumented developer features incorporated in Windows.

The idea works on both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and should also work on Vista 32-bit and Windows Server 2008 32-bit. However, it can break down 64-bit versions of Vista and you may require to start your computer in safe mode.

By making a new folder in Windows 7 and changing its name with a specific text string at the end, users will be able to do several things from from a single place like changing the look of the mouse pointer, making a new hard-drive partition etc
