I've outsourced quite a bit to people in the Phillipines, mostly via odesk. Agreed their spoken English typically leaves something to be desired, but the ones i've used have been great for dev work, link building, etc. and their written English was easy enough to understand.

No. Nobody that doesn't live there has ever hired anyone in the Philippines.

Seriously, what are you really asking?

People in every country typically have some good skills and some poor skills (A generalization, but oh well). So depending on what work you need done, Philippines may or may not be right for you.

Personally, I've never yet outsource anything to the Phillippines but I know many top marketers do. People like Jeff Mills who's a master in outsourcing and even has his own workshop teaching people how to outsource also send works over to the Phillippines as it's not only cheap but also good in quality.

Although I am English. I actually live in Manila and have done for over 10 years.

The call center industry is booming in Manila not only because the English is excellent, but also because of the pleasing personality most Filipinos have.

English is taught at all schools sometimes on a greater level than Tagalog and they are taught all about the tenses and construction of English.

A great deal of Filipinos speak better English than the English do!

I certainly recommend outsourcing to The Philippines for your work and you will also be helping them financially as in so many countries in Asia they always need extra cash.

It may take you a little time to find the right one, but when you do, you will have a gem!

Living among people of other cultures often allows you to appreciate their good qualities more. Otherwise you often only see their bad qualities, especially if you have never met one of them.

I am from the Philippines and a regular oDesk provider. I have been doing work for US, Canada and UK-based clients for almost 2 years now. I don't think it is fair to make a sweeping conclusion that Filipinos don't make grade when it comes to copywriting.

Funny, I live in a white community, am white and my only connection to Filipinos is at work and yet I too took offense at what I thought was perhaps a bit racist. Looking at it again it would appear that cDarkLock was being sarcastic while answering OP's question literally.

So it would appear that we are all coming to defend at a non-event.

Last year I had a project that I outsourced to the Phillipines. I had an excellent experience and after the project was finished I really wished I had more work to give them! I know of a lot of other marketers that have fulltime employees in the Phillipines and are very pleased.

I think you didn't realize that Philippines is one of the leading BPO providers... IMO, Filipinos speaks better English than Indians... I've been working with Verizon and I always deal with both.. I found Filipino accent easy to understand than Indian accent.. Indians have hard accent compared to the former...

yes, I recommend outsourcing in Phils.. low cost, better quality..

    Hey Pal,

Got some naughty style there. I think it is not fair that you defend your position at the expense of others. Your comment about Indians is uncalled for.

It's a comparison between the 2 buddy.. nothing personal and I'm not even one of them... It's like comparing apples to oranges.. no racism.. sorry if it is offending but I think it's just comparison.... India, Indonesia, Philippines, China are all have lower cost and of course you need to compare to select which is which..
