There has to be some other reason than shared ip, for drop in traffic...because I am sure that not all the trafficated sites have unique ips.

Shared IP may or may not be the reason for this Google penalty.

But first of all you need to check on which keyword were generating traffic on your site. Then check if your site has lost ranking on these keyword. Then check out what may be reason for this? Sometimes a website fall down in rankings for sometime and regain its position after some time.

I suggest you that before jumping to the decision that your site has been penalized by Google, check out other factors related to SEO.

shared IP is not the source of your problem. Please check the "uniqueness" of your content.

SE penalty has nothing to do with shared ip, if so then there wouldn't exist any shared hosts.

If you are allowing duplicate content, which being an article site I assume you are, then you need to use the rel="canonical" tag within your page. Google it for more info.

There are millions of sites hosted on shared servers, this is not the cause. Google know this thing.

shared IP may be a problem as you share the same IP with other websites and if some of them are regarded as spammers or something by google you might get into problem.

There is always risk, but only if majority of the shared ip was a spam related, like 2300 websites out of 2310
I dont think Google would ban whole ip because of 1% of spam.
It is got to be some kind of filter you got

If all else fails just spend a few bucks more a month to get a dedicated ip. Thats what I did.

Google handles virtually hosted domains and their links just the same as domains on unique IP addresses. If your ISP does virtual hosting correctly, you'll never see a difference between the two cases. We do see a small percentage of ISPs every month that misconfigure their virtual hosting, which might account for this persistent misperception--thanks for giving me the chance to dispel a myth!

I saw some experiments people did 4 years ago that showed that dedi IPs were definitely a little better, but nothing magic, they just helped a little. I'd like to hear from any SEO whizes out there on this topic now.

First, there does not seem to be anything wrong with your site. It is PR2 and it was crawled today. If I search Google for [articles2u] your site is #1 and you have site links.

Your conclusion that you have a penalty is not correct.

If your traffic dropped, find out why. You are now only guessing. Actually, someone else who knows nothing about your situation is guessing and you are going to follow his guess.

Do some work. Investigate. Don't be lazy. Dig. Find out the facts. Then you can find the solution.
