Would Changing Blog Title Have Negative SEO Effect

Discussion in 'SEO' started by lyndatreb, Jan 24, 2010.

I think I may have made a mistake when I chose my blog title. If I were to make a change at this point by adding one word to the front, would it have a negative effect? My blog is only about six weeks old. The static home page is showing on page two for the keywords I'm trying to rank for, but it's dropping steadily. Thought the change might help as far as keyword relevance. Is this a good/bad idea?

only if you change it to other keywords then yes. However the new keywords/title tag you input would have to be re-evaluated back into google SERPs for positioning.

I had to adjust title tags and blog names numerous times however there shouldnt be any doubt as long as it will eventually benefit you in a good way.

Thanks everyone. I need to really think about this. Don't know if the small change I'm going to make is worth the risk.

I agree, you got nothing to worry about unless the site is ranking for the keywords you want, in which case it is probably unwise to mess with it. Check your serps, check when the site was crawled last and then you got to make a decision from there.

    Only six weeks old?
You haven't invested very much time or effort at this point. If you think your ranking would benefit from amending the title, then change it NOW.

Far better to suffer a small drop for a few weeks than realize six months or more into the project that you SHOULD have changed it early on :)
