My friend tried Admob and wasted $300 in 3 days

    Hi guys
My friend tried admob which is now owned by google...It puts ads on mobile devices..anyway she got over 6,000 clicks and they were all very cheap but didn't get one conversion....

I was shocked...if you had 6,000 clicks on adwords you would get some return for sure...

Has this happened to anyone else...Is anyone using Admob and making money....And how do you do it?

nobody can say that particular region is responsible for this and it could also be possible that clicks on the ads came from genuine users but user did not find anything which he wants means site doesn't provide actual service.

I have heard of it happening...I actually use adwords and my friend asked me to look at her admob account to see what happened...I could not believe it either!!!!! She had over 6,000 clicks...Seh had two ads pointing to affiliate pages which I double checked to see if this was done right... Also the ad wasn't great but people clicked on it...Out of that many clicks you would have to make a sale.

Anyway I just told her to turn it off...She had spent $300 in 3 days and was going to fill the account up again!!!!

I dunno misclicks happen but 6,000 of them?

I personally have only tried adwords a few times and similiar programs. Mixed success with them and I saw a wasted $200 in a week once with no conversions so it can happen, just very rare and unlucky.

People don't buy from their cellphone yet. It is just to much of a hassle. Maybe in 5 years when the technology is even better.

You can easily get 6000 clicks if people are curious about that ads. But they will not buy it on a cellphone

Definitely not going to use Admob then, lol. I have to agree with checkblog as well. people like to talk, not click ads on phones. might have been your friend's fault.

LOL so what he did waste the money he learned a very good lesson. Thinking that simply investing into clicks will bring in conversions is wrong.

You need to also work on the targeted page. Have it tested by a few people, get feedback. He/she probably didn't do that.

    Also to answer your question:
You need to do hard research.
    Trial and error.
Work on the results & feedback!

Also if adwords was this simple we would all be millionaires :)

yea, u can just advertise using a certain ad network and expect something in return right away... you need to make customization to your ad and use the targeting feature that allows you to manage where you want your ads appear, and who will see your ads...
this, in turn, will increase the chance that your ads will reach the potential buyers and you get the conversions you're looking for...

ad networks like admob, buzzcity, mobgold etc already has this service so now it is up to you to fully utilize it and make more effective advertising campaign

Admob is full with publisher who cheat , who change the ad code , who use ad code on adult sites !!
Admob should review much better the publisher accounts and sites !!
Advertising (with my money) is my last choise what I will do in my life :)
Ok , I transfer from my publisher pending earnings to advert my site ... but just few bucks per month ...

But i think the situation of Admob is not as bad as you think. They have control on their codes and i don't think their system can be cheated as easy as you think. The success of advertising depends on many factors. The region you are advertising for, The product you are advertising for, The quality of your services and website and ...
