5 Effective Methods to Build Links and Increase Your Rankings

Some quick and easy link building techniques with specific examples and details:

1. Use Google Keyword Strings to find Potential Link Partners or Do Follow Blogs to comment on:

• "Your Keyword" "Web Directory"
• "Your Keyword" "Link Exchange"
• "Your Keyword" links.html
• "Your Keyword" partners.html
• "Your Keyword" resources.html
• "Your Keyword" "You comment, we follow"

2. Find potential link partners via the following pages (top 4 are courtesy of linkbuildingideas.com):

Note: I would suggest keeping your web directory inlinks to no more then 10% of the total incoming links to your website. Web directories are typically less relevant then other pages and sites, and can be spammed by others so be sure to tread carefully.

3. Write a high quality, relevant post (make it useful for VISITORS) and submit it to any of the following blogs noted below that accept guest posts. Note: This is a great method for increasing both referral traffic AND your rankings if done properly, so its worth the extra effort and time required to implement it.

• A list of approximately 30 or so blogs accepting guest posts.
• A list of 52 blogs accepting guest posts (published in 2008)

4. Get links from some of the BEST web directories by ignoring PR and looking at the important metrics. Aviva Directory provides an excellent list of the top directories sorted by PageStrength. PageStength is an all encompassing tool that analyzes the most important metrics that determine the quality of a website including # and quality of backlinks to that site, age of domain, links from edu and gov sites, domain name visibility, listing in DMOZ, etc.

5. Utilize article marketing, but take a different approach then most people:

• Focus on the best article directories and relevant, niche directories
• Utilize guest posting (more traffic and typically a higher quality backlink)
• Feel free to stray slightly out of your niche, if it means you can write a more useful/interesting article that is still somewhat relevant.
• Write a few articles that use a "viral" linkbait approach on them. For instance, if you sell aftermarket automotive parts write an article such as "The 10 coolest tricked out cars you'll ever see" or "The 5 Best Burnouts of All Time". Then use social bookmarking and other techniques to promote the article. Also, consider adding videos to the content and or lots of pictures to make it more intriguing, interesting, and exciting for visitors.
• Strive for one good article instead of 10 crappy ones. Post the best articles on your website first, and then AFTER its indexed post them to the article directories. This will prevent you from getting penalized for duplicate content.
• Consider adding your article to http://www.manipalonline.com/. Its a free PR6 article directory that sounds like a dropped domain, but its survived two PR updates. Your article will typically stay on the front page for at least two days and there are few competing articles on the site.
