I already use a custom domain, but because it redirects from blogger, it ends in .html (for example: http://www.*****.com/2010/01/*******.html ) Now I want to switch to wordpress on this same domain, but as far as I know, it will knock off the .html from the end of the URL. I can customize the URL to make it almost the same as the original URL, but I think there's no way to keep the .html on there, is there? The reason I need to do so is because I have some paid posts on the blog and I don't want advertisers to think I have deleted their posts. (I won't be able to inform advertisers individually because there were too many.) Any insights?
Just edit your permalink to cover that things. I do same setup for my wife blog that run with blogspot plus migrating her haloscan command to wordpress comment.
Hey Vandy, you can do that by change your permalink custom structure in wordpress by the following way /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%.html or go to worpress site codex.wordpress and serach by permalink and it will done. Thanks
Only changing permalink structure wont solve problem. See. If you have blog post 'This is one of my biggest useless blog post for useless work' In blogger it will be - domain.com/this-is-one-of-my-biggest-useless-blog.html in Wordpress it will be - domain.com/this-is-one-of-my-biggest-useless-blog-post-for-useless-work.html blogger short the long URLs while WP shows full. There are many solutions available. But the one I used at my site was http://devilsworkshop.org/blogger-to-wordpress-traffic-permalinks-redirection-plugin/ Owner of that site also created plugin for it.
