I am in process of creating a fantasy sports betting website and over estimated the amount of potential revenue I will be able to generate through advertisments. my website, www.pennybookie.com, is an online fantasy sports betting website in which users will be able to bet on sports games for free and eventually cash out for real money. I was hoping to run this website through advertismetns but i am beginning to reconsider that and would like to know if you guys had any suggestions. I was thinking of maybe trying to get my users to fill out surveys but don't know how to do such a partnership. Also was wondering how I could get those types of promotions, where companies will pay me to get people to do trial offers. I am not really sure how to tackle this problem and could use your help. I am currently signed up for a sportsbook affiliate, but I am unsure if I can expect users to subscribe to a sportsbook either. Google Ad sense ads ruin the look and feel of my site in my opinion.
    Please check out the website.

If your clients are not betting real money, try building a Facebook app. The ad revenue model will work there because the customer acquisition cost is lower.

Do SEO. It will help in the promotion of your site. Though it may take some time but you'll probably get good results from it.

    Your site looks great....Well done.

I'm sure you are aware that sports betting is a tough nut to crack in the SEO world........ ;)

I spent many years in the gambling niche with some of the largest gambling portals in existence and do know the unbelievable money that can be made if successful. Most people I roll my eyes at when they try the gambling niche but you have the right idea I think. Entertain them and make it a value.

I see you are from the US and hosted in Texas?
I'm not sure how involved you are or have been in the gambling niche but there are some dangers when promoting online gambling in some US states.
It may not be a problem until you start generating a lot of traffic, but that is when you will want to watch where you display your site. Kentucky and a couple of others may decide to have their way with you.

I'm not sure if you're a gpwa member or not but there are some good resources there if interested. Well worth a look if you haven't already:

    Tip:
Bodog is a good affiliate to have, you will want to protect that partnership. Be a good little affiliate and they grant special favors..like giving exclusive special promotions just for you and your members. So don't be afraid to ask your aff manager for such things.

When it comes to searching for your whale(s) (someone that gambles 5 digits or more per month giving you large monthly commissions) one thing to consider is that Most of the old time online gamblers will already have accounts with most of the major gambling networks, leaving you high and dry as far as commissions go.

For promoting the older established sports-books you will want to target the new blood.
This means college kids and wannabes that most likely will not result in any whales for a time.

To gain the old timers large commissions concentrate on pushing them the New sports-book establishments. You have to be one of the first out there pushing though. By keeping an eye on the online gambling scene you will know who is about to open up a new program. That is how you will find your whales. Once you catch a couple Keep them up to date on the best bonuses, special deals, inside tips, etc., and they will belong to you forever. They are your gold so treat them like it if you know what I mean.

Try to get what gambling networks your members are signed up with so you can individually promote ones they don't have. Use polls and perhaps reward for answers. There are a couple of good ad managers that you can target members with specific ads via certain criteria. You will want this with gamblers in order to micro target your offers. Some like black jack and others are hard core sports enthusiasts.

FYI: Active gambler mailing lists and personal information is some of the most valuable information on the net when it comes to selling advertisement space on newsletters... build your list with as much personal information as possible. The more you learn about your members the more value you are building in them.

Yes, there can be great money in this niche but you have to be quick to the draw and grab the newbs and the new affiliates. Delay and your competitors will get your commissions.

It looks like you have a good idea and a great site.
Good luck and keep out of trouble!

    Ken

PS: I almost forgot, IMHO you would best monetize the site by using sports betting and casino affiliates (in case you couldn't tell ...lol)
When signing up with them select the monthly commission type and not the cpa type. You get paid forever from a gambler with the wagering commissions where you only get a one time fee for the cpa type. Pass on the quick buck as the long term is much, much more profitable when you finally hit a good one..... possibly 1000s of times more so

Based on my real experience,FB is not tolerant to any gambling apps.
So its not possible to leverage on FB apps for your gambling site.

wow i have gotten great feedback thanks everyone! technically, this is not gambling because users do not have to deposit any money..so its a free way to gamble and actually win prizes! i think that was a great idea to target new sportsbook sites and maybe during the sign up page asked which sportsbook they already belong to...really great advice!
