A few days ago, Baidu was attacked by hackers. Then, the following second day, I heard of Google may close Google.cn, and withdraw from China. It surprised me a lot. As for me, Google.cn helped me a lot. It can be said I cannot live and work without google.

I feel same, no doubt they will lose a huge market in China.

Does it mean Google can not fight against hackers, rather than making servers more secure, trying to run away!

Probably not, some other issues are involved there not hackers.

    This is extremely innacurate...

Google doesn't want it's results censored for one. Let's say someone typed in the emporer or china's name... No results that talked bad about him would surface do to that censureship... However you type in George W. Bush that's the first result is a joke about him... ( Kidding but there is alot )

    .

The greatest contribution Google has made in this world, directly and indirectly, is the creation of true transparency in that essential information is available freely to all.

according to 1 seo expert, google want to maintain there good quality and brand name. if all the websites full of crap will affects google's brand name and people wun like to search google if the results are all rubbish, so if it dosn't adhere to the company motto, they rather pull out.

According to Verisign, it's the Chinese government itself that is behind this attack. As such it makes sense for google to leave China. It's not just some random hacker.

I think its a shame if Google leaves China.

I really hate all those conspiracy theories but if the Chinese government is behind the attacks its a great move. You go google!

Internet is all about free information sharing and innovation is driving most internet companies.. Google is one of the most innovative companies out there.. If they feel that they are being asked to compromise on their core values, they may not hesitate to leave China.. Anyway they have only 30% market share compared to 60% of Baidu, More importantly they derive only 5% revenues from China so they can leave without taking a big hit on their profits
