    Hi All

I have this following issue regarding Google indexing status :

I have a domain, for example www.domain.com, i tried to find the indexing status on google.com and google.co.in or any other google country search..

example : site:www.domain .com on google.com as well as on google .co.in

site:www.domain .com on google.com---shows different indexing status

site:www.domain .com on google. co.in----shows different indexing status

Can any one please find a solution for this problem??????

    Replies will be highly appreciated...

    Regards

    Tim

It happens due to different data centers.

First thing you must do is use redirection 301 and redirect all the non-www to www. Yes one person replied, the different data centres shows different value and search results.

Google.com and Google.co.in could be on two different data center and both crawl and index at different level.

What on earth do you mean by "indexing status"? Are you saying that there are a differnet number of pages from your site indexed at Google.com vs. Google.co.in? That is PERFECTLY normal, and not a problem at all.

And I'm sorry to say contrary to the previous posters suggestions, a 301 redirect will NOT fix this. 301 redirect WILL fix the problem where site:www.domain.com at Google.com and site:domain.com at Google.com return different counts. When this happens you have URL canonicalization issues - your site is indexed with and without the www which is bad. 301 redirects WILL fix this issue.

But a 301 redirect will NOT fix what you "think" is an issue where site:www.domain.com at Google.com and site:www.domain.com at Google.co.in return different results. This is not a URL canonicalization issue... it's not a problem at all. This is the way it should be.

If you have a .co.in domain, you'll likely ALWAYS see more pages index in Google.co.in since Google assumes based on your country-coded TLD (ccTLD) that you are targeting in India and therefore targeting Google.co.in. This will also happen if you have a domain with a non-country-coded TLD like .com, .net, .org, etc. and have set your Geo Targeting preference in Google Webmaster Tools.

If you have a non-country-coded TLD (.com, .net, .org, etc.) and have NOT selected a Geo Targeting preference or set your Geo Targeting preference to United States then Google assumes you would rather rank in Google.com and will therefore likely ALWAYS see more pages indexed in Google.com.

You can, however, see anomolies when you are targeting one view of the Google index but most of your backlinks are from sites/URLs that target a different view of the Google index.

For example, if you have a domain with a .co.in ccTLD (and therefore are assumed to be targeting Google.co.in) and 95% of your links are from sites that are target Google.com... you "may" get more pages indexed in Google.com than in Google.co.in.

This is why IF you are targeting a country-specific version of Google's index (like Google.co.in), you should:

    1) get a domain with an Indian ccTLD (.co.in)
    2) get hosting in India
    3) get backlinks from other sites targeting Google.co.in

If you are targeting US users or users in multiple countries world-wide then you should:

    1) get a domain wih a non-ccTLD (.com, .net, .org, etc.)
    2) get hosting in the US
    3) get backlinks from other sites targeting Google.com
