Wordpress Blog into Website + Blog.

I would like to turn a standard WordPress Blog into a Website aswell as a Blog. By Website I mean a normal looking web-page, rather then a web-blog. The following will describe what I mean / what I would like it to be like;

• The (Index) will be a static web-page.
• I would like to have normal categories linked to other web-pages like a normal website.
• Then a link to the Blog, where all entries with comments and by date etc are.

What is the best way to do this, also to note I want the whole thing to be running by Wordpress. So building a static Website and Integrating it with WP is not something I would like to do.

EDIT: I have found out how to turn the first page into a Static Page, so basically all I need to do is to be able to add categories to the Pages. So like this:

Category
- Static Page

Category 2
- Static Page

 

I read an article that said Wordpress can automatically backup your data

I'm sure there's a plugin but why not just create top level Pages where you have Category and Category 2 and subPages under them? Be easier to do it that way than add in Yet Another Plugin.
