Contest $30 Club Logo Contest

I would like a new logo for a club that I'm a member of. The club is for people that enjoy metal detecting for old coins, jewelry, and relics as a hobby. I spent a lot of time designing our current logo, but I'm not happy with my results. I'm looking for something that's more creative and more professional.

Club Name: Empire State Metal Detector Association
    Web Site: esmda ;org
Logo that I Designed for a Friend: http://esmda.org/nemd.jpg
    Color Preference: none
Font Preference: no "old west" or similar fonts

    File Requirements:
    -PSD or Ai file
    -Vector
    -Transparent background
-Logo must look good on different backgrounds including a white background
    -Layered and grouped

This logo must be unique and not contain any copyrighted material. Please do not copy anyone else's work.
I will pay the winner $30 via PayPal.
The contest will end at 11pm EST on Sunday, January 31st.

Good luck, and feel free to ask questions!

Thanks for your submissions so far.

biruhato: I like the simplicity/clean look of your designs, but if someone saw that logo on a hat, shirt, letterhead, etc, I'm not sure that they would know that it's a metal detecting club. The "signal" graphic is nice, but I'm not sure if it people would know what it is. I'm thinking that it would probably be better if the logo also included the full name of the club.

WittyCyberDesigners: nice attempt, but that's really not what I'm looking for. The metal detector that you used in the logo looks like the kind that airport security uses. The kind that we use look similar to the one that I included in my friend's logo. I like that you used the full name of the club so that everyone would know what the logo is for, but I think I'm looking for a little more than metal detector image with the club name next to that.

    Thanks,

    Peter

Hello everyone. Thanks for your designs!

HerDish: Nice design, but I think it may be too futuristic. Also, the graphic that you used doesn't make me think of metal detecting.

track: I like your design, and the font that you used, but I think your design may be too similar to the logo of kellycodetectors dot com.

gipanuhotko: I like yours as well, but the metal detector coil graphic that you used looks very similar to a car steering wheel.

ing_pacz: I'm not sure that I understand the graphic that you chose to use.

hughdesmond2006: I'm not sure about the graphic that you used.

WittyCyberDesigners: Thanks for your attempt as well. I'm not crazy about the graphic that you've chosen. Also, as I said in my first reply, I'm looking for something a little more creative than just a graphic with the name of the club next to it. If you have anything different to suggest, I'd love to see it.

gipanuhotko: I definitely like this design much more than your last one. The graphic looks like a metal detector coil, and it's easy to read.

plazmaDesign: Very creative! I like the idea, but I don't like how the coil interferes with the text on the second line. I think the text on the second line is too small compared to the overall logo, and the coil overlapping the "M" would make it difficult to read from a distance.

track: I liked your design, and I'm sure you didn't copy that other logo. It just happened that it was such a good idea that someone had already done something similar.
