    If you have a large network, be careful about interlinking each site because it then becomes very obvious that you are manipulating the Search engines.

    There's nothing wrong with irrelevant links in themselves but the way you acquire these irrelevant links. In other words, you need to stay under the radar to prevent your links from looking like they are manufactured.

    A few reciprocal links are fine but I wouldn't overdo it, especially within the same network of sites.
