Why is my laptop doing this?

I have firefox running as my browser and every half an hour to an hour Internet Explorer suddenly opens-for no reason and it usually shows a page that is related to some sort of gaming thing or another. I have no idea how to stop this annoying thing from happening. Anyone know why this happens?

Install virus protection and run a full system scan.
Looks like your system is full of viruses.

May be you have installed some toolbar related to that thing in IE.
Or IE is your default browser and it opens automatically when you click on some out going links.

Go into FireFox and/or and clear out history and cookies. And as above, install an anti-virus and run it.

It is Adware/Spyware... use a good Antispyware tool and you'll be fine ;)

This is what I recommend to my clients:

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

They do a free version. The only real difference is that you have to update it yourself and run it manually. Paying for it allows it to do that automatically.

    Hope this helps,

You've got some form of virus. I had something like that and after few scans with my virus problem was gone. If antivirus software doesn't help you can alway reinstall your Windows.

If you installed the Malwarebytes program I suggested, you have to run the scan manually for it to look at the harddrive. It won;t do it automatically unless you pay for it. Please make sure you run the upgrade as well before running the scan. Third tab from the left I believe.
