Fastest speeds in terms of what? Net upload speeds? Latency?

There are DCs with 10gbps connections and the lowest latency would be your own computer...ping 127.0.0.1

The server can be fast in 2 meaning:
    - has fast network
    - has fast CPU to process the data

Both are good for different purposes. What is your purpose I wonder?

All websites have similar speed servers and uptime, a few are above and below. It's the 80/20 rule.

Fastest speed would be one that of google servers , i am sure they got plenty of bw at hand and connectivity. Are they are webhost no ? But than again as mentioned above "define fast" for your needs.

Server speeds i am assuming you mean download/upload speeds and not the hardware it has ?

    Well does
i7 920, 2.66 GHZ with 8 cores, 12 gig ram as hardware of server that we use seems fast enough ? If you were talking about hardware performance...
