SERPS checker and SERPS don't match up

I have a rank checker and it's showing my site in different spots than me doing it manually. Normally I expect this to happen within 1-3 spots, but it's drastic. For example, for one keyword it has me ranked at 9 but when I go to look at it manually it shows me ranked on page 3. I double checked with another ranker and it put me at 9 as well.

Database problem you think?

 

data centres will be different so the results will + personalized search will make it hard to manually check, as it now comes into play even when logged out of a google account.

 

Which rank checker are you using? I noticed webmaster tools is way off and stoped using it except for a guide only. DP tool works very well but its still not 100% accurate.

You can't rely on looking for them yourself and expecting to get an accurate result. The results you see will be skewed by your cookies, your browser history, geo-targeting, and personalised results

 

Right you are! Google serves different SERP's for different users for many different reasons. The results you are seeing have to do with the server where the results are served on. This is also why Google Webmaster Tools itself is inaccurate and we see different results.

For example, Google Analytics shows clickthroughs in the SERP's for "webmaster tools" without the quotes (#9), but when I search Google, it's on page 2, #15.

 

So, what is the best tool or website to use to check your keyword rank cos i have a similar problem mentioned by OP. When i check for my keyword ranking, i get all sorts of varied positions that are incoherent.
Dont know where to turn.

Personalized search is a pain in the box, logout from Google and check rankings again.
Also if you have the Google toolbar will affect your rankings based on your past searches, even when you're logged out from Gmail.

What I do is I install Opera and I use this browser to check the "real rankings", always show different rankings from Opera and Firefox (where I check gmail and have the G toolbar)

 

Well maybe because theres no 100% tool out theree also GEORGRAPHICAL ... ranking results makes difrences ...
