Actually I don't think that this is true. I think that you get sandboxed when your website starts to rank for certain keywords and Google wants to "investigate" it. If I have a website and I do nothing on it for a year and then suddenly I do all the work and it jumps in rankings, there is no guarantee that it won't get sandboxed. Correct me if I'm wrong :)

Why we should add rel="nofollow" to link?

When you do social bookmarking it is a good practice that you only social bookmark only the 20 percent of your site then do also some link building techniques like blog commenting and directory submission. You must have quality backlinks and not the quantity.

apparently my blog also got same problem as yours, since december 2009 (4 times) and in january so far (2 times), normally after 2-5 days I got my visitors back, because ranking in SERP were back in position (without doing something specific), I kept posting, 2-3 times a day just like I did before in 'normal visitors' condition.
But in this January, I have been in this 'sandbox' for almost 8 days and it seems no indication that I will get my visitor back anytime soon :(

That sucks to hear you've been sandboxed. Perhaps your competition submitted your site to one of those Submission to 645 sites things to sabotage you.
