A logo is the most difficult of design projects. It's hard to be simple.

I suggest you perform at a professional rate at no less than a $1000.
My miminum is $2500...make the public value them. $15, $50 just cheapens them.
If you're new and starting out...even a minimum of $500.
BTW the lower the price does not mean more work. It can mean the market doesn't think you're that good or it just attracts cheap clients. These will be your most critical clients—your worst nightmares.

Done right with research, client input, exploring alternative designs, testing, changes takes at least a minimum of 40 hours of work. IMO This is the only way to uniquely represent you or your firm. It means it will not only stand out in the crowd of noise but that it will indeed be copyrightable whereby no one else can copy it or create a derivative work.

Wow! a min $1000 in less than an hour work? How I wish I could have a client like yours...:D

Most of the client's here cannot and will not able to pay for that price. It cost like a whole and huge site.

lol i don think anyone gonna get a logo done for that price , m uwell most of thenless it is some huge company , or some large well built service , people hesitate to even pay 100$ for logo , and most look for cheaper logo's than quality . i know 15 bux is low but i still provide high quality :) .

'Cept that I said it takes a minimum of 40 hours work...not an hour.
I can tell you from experience, when I first started out, even on the ones I did free to get a portfolio piece never went anywhere.

No, it's not true that small outfits won't even pay $500. Most will pay that.
I've even done one for a dentist at $500 and $1000 respectively. I know another designer in NJ who did a dentist's, including stationary, for $2500.

So it's not just "huge" companies that pay $2,500...those pay over $100,000 even more.

Like I said very low prices attract cheap customers who don't place any real value on the project. They are simply the wrong demographic for a real graphic designer.

I could also care less if you believe me or not. I've done 40 logo exploratories for Disney...I've done them for Converse Shoe ( some were on the actual shoes) for just product lines as well as a whole host of small firms.

The money is out there. If you don't value it———————>not else will either.

There is a big point in his words..

Basically there are two ways of doing business :
    1) Playing on quantity (providing cheap prices)
    2) Playing on HIGH quality (Charging high)

It depends on individual thinking what they want to do.

As far as 2500 $ for a logo are concern it is very well possible as logo is the brand identity of a business.

I have a designer friend who just charged his client Rs 1.25 lacks (2775 USD) That too in India, so its possible just depends on the kind of people you deal with :)

    Well put @ Copyright.

Graphic designers everywhere are being undersold these days. People are charging less and less to compete with other graphic designers that we are insulting ourselves...

People are starting to expect a logo for $5.00... Why? Because were willing to do work for such a low price.

    Just my two cents,
    - Nick

    Correct ,

I also do webdesgin works at those prices because I didnt learn all these yours to gain xx$ for a template.

Logos are usually done with xxx$ of dolars$.

Its not a simple job to create a logo, because it represents your site. When you look at a logo you will understand what the site or company is related to.Brainpower on focusing of creating a logo is very very hard.

Thoe , In these terms doesnt result to that I wont do a logo or a webdesign for xx$ .

    Your absolutley correct.
