why do you say threads that are stickied are better?
I don't see how they would be much different than another other new thread

When it's about HUMAN traffic, stickies are actually worse. When you want something you wish your memberbase to ignore, just make it a sticky thread ;)

When it comes to PR though, stickies can take the cake so to speak, but again... humans tend to skip the stickie (unless you are the sticky creator) and even bots don't generally bother with page 5 of a sticky and PR rarely migrates that far down the list...

So NEW threads are better for indexing, though ANY thread is potentially worth it for indexing alone!

I don't think that sig links are worthless. But in my opinion sig links are more effective for your site if you get links from a relevant site.

Sig links are not worthless , but it depends on which forum you are posting. By giving a nice and attractive signature text always brings some attention to the people and thus they like to see it

Well in terms of SEO, many links from a single site are not that high rated...

If a member is really active in a forum, his signature links are bound to get good visibility and it truly becomes a very good means for advertising & promotion. :)

Do you think it helps to make your sig links contrasting colors?
Like using red color for the text link
It may just annoy those who may be checking out your sig space

Personally, I like them to look as natural as possible. If it looks like it's selling something, I'm generally not buying. Its really the same reason I've never bothered buying ANYTHING off of the standard "landing page" they all seem like cheap infomercials *shrug*

I want it to be like some guy going "hey you, yeah, you in the hat... I just got this over on that page, and liked it. Try it!" and not like BUY THIS AND SAVE!

Thanks, I too don't believe signature links are worthless. For me, a link is a link. It is never a useless one.
