It's a lot of work. Constantly posting on other sites boards (quality-funny comments; NOT spammy junk).

Congrats, keep up the good work. Gossip sites are very viral so i expect that you get a huge increase in traffic as time passes.

BTW, i am curious to know your new vs return visitors stats (just an estimate is enough).

According to google analytics, yesterday's traffic breakdown was as follows:

    77.24% New

    22.76% Return

The return number is increasing every day.

BTW, I'm at $1.97 so far today. Swapping out the new ad unit in my right sidebar with random images has quintupled CTR (it went from 'atrocious' to just 'kinda bad')

Seems like people like your content. Are there any similar anti-celeb blogs?

Have you thought about putting an ad on each enlarged photo page? Because the photos are displayed in a seperate browser people will be more likely to click an ad.

I want to make a custom photo page, much like this guy (also a funny anti-celeb blog):

    http://www.thesuperficial.com

I just don't know how to (I'm using wordpress).

I just changed my sidebar to float to the left instead of the right (trying to take advantage of the whole "people read left to right" thing).

    What do you guys think?

posting juicy stats like that will result it a couple of copycat sites popping up - just a tip.

excelllent site by the way, your writing skills are top notch. I liked the 'seperates from jesus' headline. great name too.

keeping the ads to a minumum for the first 6months while you build up traffic and content should earn more money in the long run.

My eyes go straight to the photos so you must just be getting a great deal of traffic that does click the ads once in a while

but that image ad is probbaly the ad that gets all your clicks

Nice site, by the way. Just had a chuckle over there. Some great stats too. Expect to see you cropping up all over the place soon.

Careful with the social bookmarking sites.
It is only a matter of time before your URL will be marked as spam and banned- especially on Digg.
You can always count on $2-$5 from those spam submissions, BTW.
That is all you will ever get, however.

Oh- and yes, submitting your own site to them is considered spam....LOL
You are not a major news media member or recognized information provider.
Hence, the site is and always will be deemed a "commercial or personal" website.

I'm not really worried about copycats. There's already a million celebrity gossip sites out there. Many try to be funny. Many fail.

3000 uniques is really great. You'll make some money no matter what the ad placement is. I personally like text ads better as I haven't had any kind of success with image ads. Good job on the traffic and the content. Heee...some funny stuff there. :D
