I want to bring one of my site to google's first page. I did this several times for other sites. But now I want to experiment with SEO techniques,

Well, In recent times, I was following every traditional way to bring sites up. Like directory submission, article submission, etc.

now I want to drop these techniques, As i think directory and submission doesn't give much response to site to be in google.

I want to drop directory submission and article submission. Well what do you guys think, is it right to drop these techniques or will they really helpful in bring the site to google.

if yes, atleast tell me their features as per your point of view.

I will be very thankful to you

So, What you say SEO experts?

In my opinion, article and directory submission are decent for building backlinks, which does raise your SERP position. Because of that, I think they're important if you're in a really competitive niche. Link building is very valuable, and if you drop article and directory submission, you should replace them with something else, like dofollow blog commenting, dofollow forum posting...minus spam, of course.

Or, you can do some sort of guerilla marketing thing, but those take a while to get off the ground.

You can get backlinks by requesting review for your website on different forums which allows you to get members opinions, add your link in forum signature with anchor text that you want to rank for, try making posts on do follow blogs, buy quality blog posts from reputable bloggers. Even try to buy incontent links from related sites which have content appropriate with your niche.

I've waisted a lot of my time submitting my first site to website directories, but I no longer do them. Unless you could outsource it for the cheap, it's a time consuming job that has very little effect on how well your site ranks. I think I'm waisting my time responding to this thread the though, the OP doesn't seem like is following the discussing at all.

Hi guy, directory submission is dropped by me too. When my new site online I just submit it to the SE and famous directory as dmoz about etc.
But the article submission is useful to improve your PR and get the firmed backlinks. If you want to bring the links to google, just try the "comment on the famous site as engadet tuwa" or "post you page to digg or other social bookmarks. You also can try to add your site feed to "twitter, facebook, friendfeed" and so on.

Directories still play a good role in backlinks..
Anyway, you need to build lots of backlinks to bring your site at the first page and you don't need to be a seo expert to know that.

@ mistersuraj... Well where is Mr.Expert... What is your question all about? SEO is an ocean... You are saying you are an expert and bringing humorous questions in this forum. I would have answered if the Title was different... But i can't answer to an expert.. Coz i'm just intermediate.

Article submission is one of the best way to get a good dofollow link. I would advise that you should not part ways with it since Google will still give a better weight on the link that is coming from it.

That's a question that comes from a novice. Since you are an expert, you should know pretty well.

leaving aside your claim of expertise, article submission, link directory submission etc play major role in bringing your ranking up in search engine. Its never a waste, however the value might drop time and again.
