The both are very important for a website.
Sitemap guides the search engine to crawl better on your website.
An RSS feed helps you to promote your website better.
No wonder, search engines gives more priority for RSS feeds

Sitemaps and RSS feeds have totally different functions and thus there is no basis for comparison.

Sitemap is for search engines and RSS is for your subscriber reader. Both must work on your site to get visits.

    Both serve a different purpuse.
A sitemap is for the search engines to find you (submit your sitemap to Google webmasters tool) or di it via submitexpress.com for instance.
Rss is about more about you inbound link strategy and getting external news for instance.

You, also can define your sitemaps in robots.txt like this one:

    User-agent: *
    Allow: /

    Sitemap: http://site.com/sitemap.xml
    Sitemap: http://site.com/videositemap.xml

    Code (markup):

Both RSS n Sitemap are two different factors. Sitemap for search engine n RSS for visitors.
