    Of course not! Any type of promotion for a blog is good blog promotion, and directory submission isn't even close to enough. Blog commenting, Link Swapping, Social Marketing, and direct adverts on forums and such are the best ways to promote a new blog.

    Another idea is to use twitter, link your blog and post plenty of interesting tweets related to what you've written.

    of course not, you need great interactive relationship with community (blogosphere) so be recognized. You can get that by blog commenting, twitter, or any other social media.

    Actually I was in the same impression until i joined DP forums and now i use following methods for my blog promotion
    1. Lots of writing on other websites and commenting to get backlinks - i mean useful comments like this :)
    2. Link Exchanges with other bloggers to get some good ranking
    3. Social Network like Twitter, Facebook and StumbleUpon. Have to look for Digg and Reddit also but not getting enough time. :(

    Do all the promotions techniques as long as you can. Like doing off page optimization process and traffic will follow.
