Is using keywords in the domain name the most effective way of getting high on google for that keyword? I just bought two domain names: Madden11.info (for the keyword "Madden 11") MaddenNFL.info (for the keyword "MaddenNFL") Will this be of great help? Also, I am just using them to help gain traffic for my other site, and I am wondering which of the following options is better (in terms of search engine ranking): Meta Tag Redirect so that my members are automatically sent to Maddenholics.com (my main domain name). Just place a text/image link that the user can click to go to my main domain with no real content at all, just the link (I will use the "alt" tag for the image of course). Place content in the website but still have a lot of links towards the other site (such as banners) but not overflood it. Note: I will only use Madden11.info for about a year and MaddenNFL.info for as long as I live. Final Question: Does .com, .org, .net really matter? Do search engines care about the suffix? Thanks in advance!
tld's doesnot matter, keyword in domain is also an important factor, just create a blog using it and try to get some backlinks and authority. high ranking is guarenteed.
Don't expect your site to rank high in a few days. Madden NFL is very competitive so it might take you over a year to rank on at least the second page of Google search.
It is somewhat easy if u have the right domain name, write a good article and submit it to all web 2.0 properties
People always doing that. I think all people, not only you because keyword in domain name or url will effective much
Good Seo is keyword in domain name, have articles with main keywords and submit them to free blogs created by you (again keyword in blog name), do this for three months and you will rank high on search engines.
I've never played Madden, but I know for sure that even if you are trying to rank for Madden 11, you will still have a very hard time because it is a great game series. A lot of people will be writing about it.
It definitely helps. I would recommend this one [*]Place content in the website but still have a lot of links towards the other site (such as banners) but not overflood it. I used to think it didn't matter. But now I'm less sure. Needs to be tested.
Well, having your keyword in domain name is good but it not very much helpful in getting top rank but you can say it may influence ranking a little.
i think it does matter. it will be better if you have your keywords in your domain. and .com is usually the best but google gives more authority to .gov, .edu. dont bother with .info's..IMO they are a waste of time
having the keyword in your domain name has another advantage: if you build links and want to let it look natural then you also have to put your domain name in the linktext. and because your domain name is your keyword at the same time you will profit from it also from a SEO perspective.
Hi, I think the jury is still out on this but an ideal situation would of course be to have your keyword phrase in the domain name but I think it is just as important if not more so to have it in your header. Also what happens if you try and buy a relevant domain name and find out that it is already taken. My own website is the same as my user name here but it doesn't appear anywhere on the site apart from invisible links from articles etc. What appears in my header is my primary keyword phrase and that to me is very important. regards, Mal
Keywords in domain names have very little importance in actual ranking calculations - that’s been the case for years now. What really counts are good backlinks, not the actual appearance of the keyword in the domain name.
regarding which domain is better, people never seem to agree. I think .com will work better than .info. i'm not saying you can't rank with a .info, it will just be easier with a .com. The main reason is .com is trusted. If you see a .info you know it's probably some crap site thrown up in a few minutes, because they are so cheap to buy, why wouldn't the owner just pay an extra few dollars for a .com. Also, Google does take organic ctr into account, so if users see .info and aren't clicking, it's going to have a negative effect on it's overall pagerank
I was under the impression that keywords in the domain name are an important factor in Seoing for Bing but no so much for Google. Is what I have heard correct?
Yeah it works really well if you have the keyword in the domain. Not sure if this is having less of an impact in google than it used to, but it definitely still works and i'd recommend it.
