    RSS is a feed, which can be automatically fetched by RSS readers (like Google Reader). This is very handy because people can follow posts that offer syndication (RSS) while mobile or anywhere without to check always whether new content has been created. It's definitely one main aspect of WEB2.0.

    RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for distributing web content (such as news headlines or new content in your group). You can use RSS to read or display recent group messages on another location of your choice. Here are some examples:
    • Read messages on My Yahoo!
    • Read messages in an RSS reader, or a news aggregator.
    • Display messages in your web log (otherwise known as "blog") for others to see.

    You guys have defined RSS, but I'm guessing that none of you took the time to understand that the OP might be a beginner and as such might now even understand half of those definitions you guys have quoted above.

    I would refer them to online tutorials if I suspect that they could be new to the acronyms and technology.
    Here's one http://rss-tutorial.com/ again a google search on 'RSS Tutorial' should do it for them.
