Can someone please give me a few examples of how to do SEO for my map listing? I want to make sure it stays on page one, and wanted to get some ideas on what exactly to do. Thanks, Teddy

You can do seo for your map listing by adding your site in local directories like local.com, citysearch.com. this will help you to enhance your listing.
High keyword density. fill your details section with keywords, ping, and send trackbacks and link to it.
Actually, nobody (except Google) knows what can affect order in Google Map list. In my experience detailed information about business and reviews don't push you up.
When you write article on some topic by giving referance link to xyz.com - it means your sending ping towards that blog post. when owner of that site approved your ping it will become track back of your site and you'll get back link from that xyz.com
I read someplace that Google counts how many directories an address is also in as one of the reasons it places a company high on local search maps lists. in more other directories = higher listing. makes sence, never tested it. adding keywords, extra categories pics and videos in your Google business listing works, I have tested that. accessted: http://pingler.com is a good pinger, just put in any link. trackbacks are blog posts about something with a link, kind of, it usually comes up when one blog talks about another blog then a trackback is created and the blok talked about gets it like a comment and can add it to their blog as a link back. A link as was referred to probably means an anchor text.Done in this html format: <a href="http://www.the_web_page_you_want_people_to_go_to.com">Some attractive words that will show and be an active link and make somebody want to click preferably with keywords you want to rank for also</a> Then place that link somewhere where possibly interested people might see it. Like in your forum signature (except most forum code is slightly different - called BB code) or on a web 2 blog or or a high PR site about that subject or where ever you can find but hopefully not on any spammy blogs or free for all sites because they can hurt your ranking for that site.
Hi AccessTed There are a variety of factors regarding the optimization of your local listing. In the fast few weeks more activity has been brewing from Google to Ask to Yelp and the mobile application development industry on this subject. Keep in mind that the computer/browser base listing is one thing, then there is the mobile marketing and mobile applications for the mobile computers that are catering to local business listings as well. 1. Be sure you have a complete local listing (info to photos to videos to coupons etc) 2. Be sure to have citations (aka listings at other websites) that match 100% identically to your listing at the search engines (yes, that was plural..."engines"...there is more to the world than Google, particularly in the mobile industry). 3. Get your customers to write reviews. This will certainly get you started and now do this at the top 6 websites and maintain them on an ongoing basis. How do we know this? Our company actually has a division specifically designed to support local listings. You can ready about this group at KillerStartUps at this link http://www.killerstartups.com/Search/smartfindslocallisting-com-be-found-online Hope this helps. p.s. notice our signature (we recently changed it)
