google adsense displays ads in wrong language

    Hi,

    My site is in 3 languages (English, French and Chinese). I live in France and I'd expect ads to be in French. Yet, on the home page and some other pages, they are displayed in English.

    eg:http://www.buzzmyart.com ads on the right are in English for me, while they should be in French.
    However on that same page, the banner at the bottome is usually in French.

    On a page with user-content generated (in French), the ads are displayed in French and some of them even target the region where I live :
    http://www.buzzmyart.com/profile/pogonkine

    Is there a reason why ads are not showing in the appropriate language ?

    You'll notice in my source code that I've added :

    <html id="ctl00_htmlMain" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

    <meta id="ctl00_metaLanguage" name="language" http-equiv="content-language" content="en" />

    which is changed to 'fr' when the website is displayed in French and to 'zh' when it is displayed in Chinese.

    Any idea ?

    I can't see how this can be a good thing. If I'm French and I live in France, why would I click on an ad related to something related to UK or US business ?

    There should be a way to avoid this situation, anyone ?

    Try implementing Google Ad Manager, or using an ad server to serve different channels based on either the language of the content or the geographic location of the user.
