    Hello,

I know the importance of backlinks in SEO. However, I have a different question. Please pardon me if it looks like a silly question.

Suppose I have 20 pages on my website. 15 of them are quite popular. They have got good tons of backlinks, good PR. and there are those poor 5 pages which dont have backlinks.

    Now 2 cases apply here:

    a) 5 pages are old and are not popular. Will those 15 popular pages help them in improving those 5 pages ranking ? I know it will improve their PR but what about ranking

    b) Those pages are added recently. Will their ranking be higher before getting stable ?

Also, does the same behavior apply on Yahoo and Bing too ?

Answers with resources will be greatly appreciated.

    OK, according to your question.

Firstly, can we have a look of your site? Are all the pages in the same site? What is the value of PR of your home page?

a, because the 5 pages are old so they have stabled. But the higher pages will help them too, but not too much.

b, the new pages will ranking higher.

    hope will help.

a.) Since PR is one of the factors in SERP ranking, anything that helps a page's PR will also help it's rankings.

b.) You seems to have contradicted yourself. first you said that 5 pages are 'old and are not popular', but now you say they are 'added recently'. If the pages are older, it's not likely that they will climb the SERPs or increase in PR on their own. If the pages are brand new, then they may accrue PR just from having other pages on your site that are more popular link directly to them. And, since PR is one of the factors in determining SERP position, the SERP position may also benifit.

That is why I said 2 cases apply. I don't think I am contradicting myself. I am just assuming different cases. So there is nothing wrong in it, I believe.
