    Hi People,

I just want to ask that how much can one person make with a directory normally? I know this isn't easy but I just want to have some thoughts on this

    Regards

depends on your directory. is it general? is it niche? are you using some sort of adsense? are adsense ads high paying? low paying? how much promotion have you done? too much stuff.

your best bet is to use your title as a search term and search the forums.

Every single person today is starting a directory site and that is why I was curious if this business is worth it

If you think starting a directory is going to:

    1. Put food on the table
    2. Pay your rent
    3. Pay your phone
    4. Pay your electric & water
    5. Pay your car and car insurance
    6. Pay your internet connection
    7. [insert misc others]

Then I honestly suggest you choose an alternative means for a source of income.

then no business is worth it.. why do you have so many food outlets when all they do is serve you food?

what you do to your directory to set it apart from others matters most and this involves some amount of investment - time and money. without these 2 its not worth it.

as Rob said if you are planning to start a directory to make a fast money, look elsewhere.

I think 90% of directories don’t make any money.

    proof?

all directories at the initial stage do make some, but once the flow trickles down and the owner loses interest, it stops making any.

Hmm, not sure about that one..I agree with you that a directory will PROBABLY not pay ALL of those, but I know my dietdirectory could pay my monthly phone and car insurance together :) and that directory isn't all that old - just marketed right :D

time put in, popularity and branding play an important role.
need to invest some good cash to think on the likes of yahoo and others.

    any way to the point.
how many directory owners are not making the ends meet with their directories??
who are planning to shut down??
how many planning to sell it once it achives a PR??
some one is saying a pr5 at ebay is going out for 3500$

I have to agree on your good response. choosing your niche and marketing can determine a lot. It's good to hear you are doing well with one of your directories.

I still would not rely on the forever changing internet and the evil <-- hehe Google.

I really liked your response, attitude and outlook on things. ++ for you. ;)

It really depends on how much you promote it, I have heard people earn as low as $20 a month and as high as $10,000 a month.
