my website pr is only1, i spend hours evey day to submit webiste to various directories. but i do not know if it increase pr of my website

 

Think of it this way... The more the number of links to your site, the more your website seems popular to the search engines. But be sure to post your links in relevant categories only, as multiple categories can confuse the bots and they might think that this website is just a spamlink spread around just to get ranking.

Very good point. Another thing to keep in mind is ranking for keywords that will generate leads or clicks. Chances are if you are ranking really high for very popular search terms or generic search terms, you will see high traffic but little money. Find a balance that works for you.

In my opinion you should find very SEO directories - not phpld or simillar - something really SEO . There are some , not a lot for now .

Not wasting of time but getting one way backlinks through directories more benefited to your website.

 

It is very possible. I had a similar experience. One of my websites was PR 4 in 3 months. I was wondering how could be that possible, too. The only thing I made was an excelent optimization of that site around principal keyword and submitted it to dmoz. I found the answer when I checked the backlinks. I have to tell you that site is a site for kids, with histories ("povesti" in romanian), audio histories, games, info about nature, etc., all free. Pages of that site was soon indexed by google and a lot of blogs and other websites for kids put backlinks to my audio stories.
So, my conclusion is that writing great and useful content makes the difference. The difference will be seen by humans (they will put backlinks and will increase the average time on site, etc.) and by robots (they will index you site in front of others).

 

We have submitted to 1500 directories manually during the last 3 months and noticed some improvement in SERP for some keywords, but we could make only upto No.2 position in only one keyword and in first page for few other keywords. But Free traffic is still considerably less. Is posting to the directories and article submission alone are best for SEO ? If any other methods are there how to proceed safely without violation of Google TOS.

 

Directory submission is one of the most effective techniques of seo. but only one of them not all. although its results are slow but effective specially for new coming sites.

 

I am not an expert on this ,But my own calculations tell me that a PR6 Site within 1 year will have some issues soon ahead..Tho i wish you good luck! I have seen a similar application where ,At the next google update ..Im not talking about Cache. I mean true google update on your site in which your PR will be determined,measured ,analyzed and whatever else google does to determine PR..This update can happen every 3,6 ,9 or 12 months .It is very random BUT! It does happen to every site on the web ATLEAST once a year..When this happens next time on this PR6 site ,you will see true PR Ranking ..

I would not agree that, it's just a method to get backlink. man, keep forcus on your content and forget about SEO

 

Not only there is point in submitting to directories, it is a must.
Where else will youl get links from, mostly if you have new site. Think about that.

 

I find it amazing that submitting to directories is still essential. I honestly thought it would be old hat by now.
