I believe some directories already have it like businessseek.biz if I remember right...it's an expensive mod though!

    Hello...

Id like there to be a way to send an electrical shock every time someone skips review payment
(50,000 volts should be enough to teach them a lesson) lol :D

Actually id say an SEO Plugin type feature like wordpress offers so that its easier for us folks that aren't master
coders and programmers to get what we want done quickly and at minimal cost ;)

With custom fields, you can create deep links. One of LEP selling point is a complete handling of custom fields including rich selection of field types and its validation.

just reviewing links in my web directory, i got one which i would like to see in directory scripts! :)

this is something i incorporated earlier this year, and eases my job a hell lot!

i dont know about other scripts, but phpLD has 2 approve menus, rather 3,... approve category/ approve links / and approve articles ,... im more focusing on the approve links here...

some directories have 3 types of links, featured/ normal and free ... with featured and normal being the the paid options,.... and theres usually a verbiage with the free submission that goes like will take 6 months to review...

BUT, and heres the interesting part! ... going back to the admin to approve listing,... all submissions are seen on the same page,.... either you go approving in serial order,... or after a certain point of time, squint and search and review listings that have been paid for, leaving the free ones (6 month review) for later!!!

my suggestion being break the approve queue between paid and free,... so u have 2 menus :
    - "approve paid listings"
    - "approve free listings"

phpLD is easy, just an extra variable in the querystring in init.php file,..
     dir_approve_links.php?paid=1
    Code (markup):
and corresponding edits in the approve links file!

    Hope this helps!

There should be an automated setting in admin with a review que associated with it where one could assign a setting of say 365 days to it. Then the script would pull already approved sites into the que every 365 days from their acceptance date for a recurring review.

An automated process to bring listings up for another recurring check to ensure the sites still meet guidelines.

Excellent idea, it could also send the relevant email to the site owner notifying a review is imminent and whether a further payment is required.

No this would be nothing like the renew mod.... This would be for directories which have listings which are permanent either because that is how they are set up or because the resources were added by admin....

They should also be reviewed every set period to ensure they meet guidelines and the directory does not become filled with spammy sites which no longer meet guidelines.

Not driven by generating recurring revenue but driven by ensuring quality listings are maintained.

yeah... the first part of the problem i fixed (only in Dir.vc) with adding an option in the admin panel "Gift".

where in phpLd we have free/ paid/ pending => the values in the list database "PAYED" variable,.... set it to -2 becomes a gift,... which is the admin adding list to which are permanent, and will never get a renew email.

the second part is an interesting perspective,... usually once in a while i go around with my other mod,... easier to handle coz it works on ascending id's

but on the whole cool idea swedal :), ... guess more experience brings better ideas :)

qlWebDS Spam Filters pretty much take care of this - available in all versions.
