I have a good site, but no ideas for profit.

Hey people.
I have a pretty decent site (I think).
The site is local (so not in English) and I am not going to reveal the link publicly anyways.

But here are some statistics:

Daily visits: about 300
Traffic:
~39% direct hits,
~21% Search Engines ( I have NO SEO AT ALL, I have IPB v3 forums and a homepage, which has exported news from IPB ),
~ 40% referring sites
93,606 pageviews in past month.
(google analytics statistics)
Also I have about 500 natural backlinks ( haven't submitted my site to some seo site or directories, those are some links to my site just because they're there , not sure how that happened )

I don't have any ads on the site. I own the site for almost 2 years now. I am starting to wonder if I could make a little more money with it. Currently I am earning about ~50$ per month, which doesn't even cover the dedicated server rental cost.
Also I would like you to tell me if the site is worth something at all or not, since I have built it just because I wanted to, not for profit.

Well you could always start with something like google adsense.

You mentioned the site is localized.. perhaps you could go after businesses in the local area that are relevant to your website and ask them if they're interested in advertising? perhaps even give them a free trial...

 

Google Adsense is probably NOT your best bet for a local website. A local website is probably some kind of portal or community website. If it's one of those the best thing for you to do would be to advertise local businesses. Talk to local business owners (in person not online and not phone) and offer them a cheap deal.

Something like $15/mo. If you can get 4-5 of these businesses signed up you can make a lot of money. Are you in the Western World by any chance (Europe/USA)? If so local businesses usually pay good money for things like that. But if you're in India you'll probably have better luck with Adsense.

Site is in gaming category. It is a gaming community, not sure if anybody will want to advertise...

Are there any improvements I could make to my site to start earning something ? I have about 3000 forum members ( about 10% active , the other 90% can be used for mailing lists I gues...)

Hey Sir,

You could add some adsense to your site it could give you some revenue. Another good way is to check out clickbank and find a game guide and promote it on your site. Like if your board has a hot forum on WOW, you can put a banner which links the "clickers" to an affiliate landing page. Could help!

Become an expert in your market. Write informational articles and post them to article distribution sites. Your bio and anchor texts will offer back links to your website.

I know this sounds cliche, but content is king. Once your brand yourself as a knowledgeable leader in your market, you will build relationships, and in turn, have more website traffic.

Video Gaming or the Gambling kind of gaming?
You should probably just affiliate yourself with amazon, ebay, or another site that offers your website users relevant products.

 

You can have you site optimized and start building link on a consistent basis.

I would suggest you to downgrade your server to save cost.
And you can sell some banner ads to cover your hosting fee.

You may work on your website as a SEO, then only you can improve your traffic. In the same time you can refer what work was done by the seo.
