The hyphen would had problems with type ins.

    I'd register both, though.

If both with or without a hyphen is available, go for the one without it. That's just what I would do.

I like the .net without the hyphen. If you optimize effectivly either name should have good results.

Whats the purpose of buying both? Only one will show in the SERPS if the other is just a redirect?

Though there are some domains where i have more than one variant of the domain, but more so to make sure someone else dont buy the name

The net domain name would be my choice. Easier to remember with out the hyphen and should be able to get it to rank well in search engines.

This is a TOTAL Push. Meaning as far as SEO goes there is NO difference. Both .Com and .Net are Top level domains so google gives them equal strength.

The ?? -??.com is also NO problem as google just looks through it and grabs your keywords. The only question you really have is which you think LOOKS better to you. Again as far as SEO go I and more importantly google sees them as the same. Worse case scenario as far as SEO goes I would say 51% goes to .net and 49% goes to -.com

    Hope this helps.

This is much pretty accurate, particularly if you don't care about type-ins/direct traffic. It sounds like he doesn't.

Ya good point about the type in/direct traffic publisher. Ya if the straight up domain.com is gone he has lost that game already. lol

I think too often when people talk about this topic online they seem to only think of that 1 aspect of type in's which for most websites is a none factor. Especially when like Saiwan said he is talking SEO.

    Cheers

.com is worth more but dash isn't very attractive just register them both and redirect them to the same site you cant go wrong and you might get a bit more traffic

.com is comercial and .net is a network or community.
