    It is a good idea to own a domain of your own name...but it is even better if you can own a domain that contains a keyword. For example, if you are a freelance writer, then look for a domain that contains writer, writing, or some such keyword,

    it's a good idea to search for a few domains. Try ballisticdomains.com and see what we maybe able to offer in the way of advice

    otherwise you can also register the domain for your personal blog.

    It's nice to have just for novelty sake as well. Looks a bit more professional when applying for jobs and things if you have an email address at your own name's domain.

    I took the domain of my name for Email purposes only..

    Then, I started a blog on arbitrary topics, because some of the interviewers were keen to put the domain in their browser, and a parking page does not look good..

    That's really a good idea,but the precondition is you should give much promotion as possible as you can.Because still many guys didn't know anything about name except your relatives and colleges or your friends.

    I would say it depends on what your goal is with your website. Do you want to brand your name? Sell products? A blog about a specifik subject? When you know what you want to achieve, it´s easier to choose the right domainname.

    It is always good to own your name.com. Even if you are not popular now you might be sometime and then wish you had it. If nothing else you can use it for your blog, an easy and cool email address or to point to your other sites.

    you could actually help your sites by giving them some backlinks from yourname.com
