When your site disappears from Google completely, does that mean it's been banned from Google?

Did you try typing in something like
    http://www.~yourURL~.com/blabla/
    Code (markup):
? It might've been that Google's changing your SERP therefore your root URL disappears temporarily. (normally 1-2 days).

I don't think ban is the correct word, I think he correct word should be penalized...! If you have used some black hat seo method or something, then there are chances that your website might have been penalized by google...!

I got someone from here to do some SEO work, he probably did it...

    site:yoursitehere.com - works fine, I'm still there.

Guess I'll speak to the guy on here that did it.

Is it possible to go back where I was before?

I would give it a couple of days every once in a while sites will disappear for 2-3 days then reappear with different rankings.

Yes. It mifht be temporary issue. If after few days your site won't back it's positions try to request for re-indexing from Webmaster tool.

I don't think. Use the option site:yoursitename and check it whether it appears or not. Usually this condition remains for only 1-2 days only.
