Hi, i'm looking to purchase my first domain and as my knowledge is very limited in this area i was wondering if anybody could reccomend a good reliable site to buy domains from. I'm looking for the cheapest most reliable company possible that are going to protect my personal information and details.
I was looking at this one registered domain, and a few clicks into it i found the persons name, address that the domain was registered to. Do they have to display this?
    Any reccomendations?

u cannot buy registered domains unless u approach the owner and they willing to sell it, try out with godaddy.com they are good for domain names

No, they chose to display that.

    Try namecheap or godaddy.

They both have options to hide your info from whois requests.

NC offers it free on purchases of a couple.... three maybe.

well you can use other companies to purchase your new domain, like IPower (see my signature). However depending on what type of site you have in mind, you can find free hosting. Blogdog is very good from my experience, you can edit the template and it's free. and for some reason the search engines like my sites hosted there even without link exchanges, but i have only used them for a few months. What I do is buy my domain from ipower for about $7 or from yahoo for about $3 and change the nameserver to blogdog. About the privacy thing, with ipower you click on a button if you want your information hidden from the public, however I have not come across that option with yahoo. Godaddy to the best of my knowledge do not allow you to transfer your domain to another host within six months, unlike yahoo and ipower - where you can transfer it immediately it has been set up. If you need hosting, however, I suggest you use midphase, they have a bunch of stuff for all kinds of sites.

    Hi,

For .co.uk, I think you better
go with a UK registrar. I found
    that GoDaddy was not registering
    them. Just search for
    "uk domain registration".

    For common extentions, I recommand
    ipowerweb.com. Just $6.50 with privacy
and a parking page, better value.

    webgaya.
