Please Review the DESIGN of my portfolio

Yeah, please take a look at my portfolio and give me your opinions on the design. It's not yet coded (it's just a picture) but i want opinions on it before i start coding.

Some feedback for you:
- how do you think this will display on smartphones i.e. iPhones? Best you use CSS to style it for different devices
- I'm interested the hero image for the projects seems transparent? I would recommend your images be bold & eye-catching

 

Kind of generic looking, like you downloaded a flash art gallery template. Is there anything you can do to give the site a more unique feel?

 

Engineering spelt wrong but I'm sure you would have spotted that I like this, I think it's very neat and very clear. I can see that when it's completed the understated background and text will ensure that the actual gallery becomes the main focus of the site. (Don't think that the actual images in your gallery should be transparent though)

Simple, but still very nice an neat. 8/10-- I don't like the background.

 

So you'd prefer to see a plain black background or somthing?
I though the background was the thing that completed it to be honest. Ill try a few alternatives with a plain background or somthing though.
