Can clicks be worth ZERO?

Discussion in 'Reporting & Stats' started by wozzaofrare, Aug 21, 2006.

I have now noticed 7 clicks in a row that are completely worthless not even giving me 1c

    Surely clicks are worth something!

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm going to look very seriously at section targeting so that I can try and manipulate the adverts into ones that are actually going to generate something over 1c but I didn't think it was possible for clicks to be worth nothing at all.

I doubt that clicks can ever be worth zero, impossible imo. Each click is paid for, even if it's $0.01 & as a publisher you receive a slice of it.

is that what it could be?

I just sent an email to google about it, over the last 4 hours every new click registered has not increased todays earnings by even a cent. Each new click is worth zero :-(

So section targeting is the only answer right?

    That's a fact.

wozzaofrare, try disabling public service ads and see if it makes a difference. Creating channels is a good way to analyze what's going wrong here.

It can be zero, someone did a google attack on my adsense account (using botnet I guess) and I got suspended.

Anyway, on that day I got like 50,000 clicks and $0.01 in earnings...

So it would go with mybizkut's theory that invalid clicks get nothing...

If you clicked your own ad you'd better hurry and tell google about it! How much its worth will be the least of my worries!

    You can choose

Fill space with a solid color

for alternate ads while generating your adsense code.

When you create your ad code, you have the following options:

My personal preference is the last option.

And, yes - implement section targetting on your site to get better paying keywords (but don't try to trick AdSense into something completely different). Have you looked at what ads are being served on your web site? Use the Digitalpoint Adsense Sandbox to test this.

whats really wierd is that I have gone over my entire site and there are no PSA's currently being displayed anywhere yet I still recieve clicks which are worth zero.

Today I've actually made nothing at all and I've had heaps of clicks. How can so many clicks keep coming through that are worth nothing?

Google still hasn't replied to my email either

Why do my reports show clicks with no associated earnings?

Advertisers running site-targeted campaigns bid on a cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) basis. This means that publishers are paid each time a site-targeted ad is shown on their page, even if the end user does not click the ad. For this reason, you may see any amount of earnings without any clicks appearing in your account. You can view separate statistics for site-targeted ads to see whether they're displaying on your site.

In addition, in order to protect the interests of our publishers as well as those of our advertisers, Google monitors clicks on Google CPC ads to prevent any abuse of the AdSense program. Google's proprietary technology analyzes all ad clicks for any invalid click activity that is intended to artificially drive up an advertiser's clicks or a publisher's earnings.

Clicks deemed by our monitoring system to be invalid will appear in your reports. However, since advertisers are not charged for clicks deemed to be invalid, publishers do not receive any revenue for these clicks. Consequently, you may on occasion notice clicks with no associated revenue. Please rest assured that your account is being properly credited for all valid clicks.

I got one click today for the first time in one of my channels. Only 1 click on that channel and 0$.

I am not hijacking the thread but just wondering...why it happened and I saw this thread.
